Coronavirus count is steady in 50s

The count of new confirmed cases of the coronavirus cases in Orange County is holding steady in the range of around 50 a day. Tuesday’s statistics from the Orange County Health Care Agency show 50 new incidents.

It’s the fifth day in six where the totals per day stayed in or around the 50s. By comparison, the count of new cases was 104 on April 1 and 72 on April 4.

The cumulative total is 931 and one new death was reported, bringing that sum to 15. Cases currently hospitalized are 129, down one from Monday, and cases in intensive care are 75, up from 72.

Cities with the most reported cases are led by Anaheim with 95, followed by Irvine with 82, Newport Beach with 75, Huntington Beach with 67 and Santa Ana with 65.

In The Tribune’s coverage area, Huntington Beach has 67 cases, Garden Grove with 24, Westminster with 14 and Stanton with two.

In Santa Ana, the Orange County Jail is under a full quarantine with no new inmates admitted or moved out, triggered by four new incidents of coronavirus among the jail population.
