The number of new confirmed cases of coronavirus in Orange County rose sharply today (Wednesday) and two more deaths were recorded.
According to the Orange County Health Care Agency, 91 new cases were reported, a jump from the last few days when the increases were in the range of 50 cases daily.
The cumulative cases to date are now 1,016 and deaths are at 17. Ninety-nine people are hospitalized with the coronavirus with 59 in intensive care units.
Changes in the count of new cases could represent a true rise in the number of infections or just an increase in testing.
A listing of the Orange County cities with the most cases has Anaheim with 104, followed by Irvine with 89 and Newport Beach with 78. Santa Ana is fourth with 74 cases, followed by Huntington Beach with 73.
In the Tribune’s coverage area, after Huntington Beach is Garden Grove with 28, Westminster with 14 and Stanton with two.
