Fifty-one new confirmed cases of the coronavirus were reported Thursday by the Orange County Health Care Agency, a sharp drop from Wednesday’s tally of 87.
That brings the cumulative count case count to 1,425.
One hundred thirty-eight cases are currently hospitalized, with 68 of those in intensive care.
The city count showed Anaheim again atop the list with 162 cases, followed by Santa Ana with 142, Irvine with 106 and Huntington Beach with 97.
In The Tribune’s coverage area, the stats show after Huntington Beach, it’s Garden Grove with 45, Westminster with 24 and Stanton with seven.
Worldwide the statistics compiled by Johns Hopkins University show the total cases at 2,151,199, led by the United States with 667,225, followed by Spain with 184,948, Italy with 168,941, France with 147,091 and Germany with 137,698.
The death toll has 143,725 recorded worldwide. By nation, the U.S. has 34,386, followed by Italy with 22,170, Spain with 19,315, France with 17,920 and the United Kingdom/Great Britain fifth with 13,729.
