COVID-19 does another Monday drop

EFFORTS TO slow the growth of the coronavirus such as wearing masks, frequent hand-washing and social distancing are showing results (Pexels/Anna Shvets).

As has been the pattern in recent weeks, Monday’s count of new coronavirus cases in Orange County dropped strongly from the days before.

The latest tally by the Orange County Health Care Agency is 54 new cases, down from 105 on Sunday and 124 on Saturday. The cumulative total of OC cases is at 2,126.

No new deaths were reported, leaving the total at 39.

One hundred fifty seven cases are hospitalized with 62 in intensive care units.

A total of 795 more people were tested, bringing the total to 26,347.

In the city-by-city counts, Santa Ana is now the city with the most reported cases of COVID-19 with 306, passing Anaheim with 289. Next is Huntington Beach with 183, followed by Irvine with 127. Newport Beach has 96.

In the main coverage area of The Tribune, after Huntington Beach there’s Garden Grove with 89, Westminster with 36 and Stanton with 19.
