The recount is underway for the April 7 recall election for the removal of three members of the Westminster City Council.

On Tuesday morning, the Orange County Registrar of Voters in Orange County began to reexamine records of the balloting. The recount was requested by Camilla Overbeek, a Westminster resident.

The three members facing recall – Mayor Tri Ta and councilmembers Kimberly Ho and Chi Charlie Nguyen – were all successful in turning back the challenge, with “no” votes to the recall with majorities of 57 to almost 60 percent.

The registrar’s office expects to report the unofficial results from the first night’s voting (April 7) by 8:05 p.m., tonight (Tuesday) with the first unofficial results from in-person voting at 8:30 p.m.

Updates will continue each day by 5 p.m. during the canvass period until the last official results are posted, likely by Friday.  Results will be available here at www.orangecountytribune.com or by going to www.ocvote.com and navigating to “results” and then to “election results info.”
