New coronavirus cases are at 62

THE ORANGE COUNTY count of new coronavirus cases is at 62 in Tuesday’s tally, up from 55 the day before. (EpicTop10.com)

Confirmed cases of the coronavirus rose to 62 in Tuesday’s report by the Orange County Health Care Agency, up from 55 on Monday.

The cumulative number of cases the county is now at 3,602. There was one death reported Tuesday, bringing the total to 77 cases.

Of those totals, 18 of the deaths and 374 of the cases were senior nursing facilities.

There are 230 cases hospitalized, with 100 in intensive care units. The OCHCA agency also reported 399 tests conducted in their Tuesday count, with 54,769 tests administered to date.

The city-by-city cases count has Santa Ana with the most cases at 570, followed by Anaheim with 545, Huntington Beach with 270, Garden Grove with 186 and Orange with 173.

Local cities Westminster and Stanton show 61 and 28 cases, respectively

Trio of local scholars are honored

Three area students are college successes.

Catherine Ngo of Garden Grove graduated from the University of Lincoln with a bachelor of arts degree from College of Arts and Sciences at “virtual” commencement on May 9.

Adam Getty of Huntington Beach has graduated from the University of Tampa with a bachelor of science in management at a virtual ceremony on May 9.

Johnny Evans of Stanton has been named to the Columbia College (Missouri) Dean’s List for the spring 2020 semester. To be named to the list a student must have completed 12 semester hours and achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
