A “Strawberry Foodie” fest is set

THERE WON’T BE A PARADE but there will be a “Strawberry Foodie Festival” at Henry’s (Orange County Tribune photo).

It’s not exactly THE strawberry festival that takes place on Memorial Day weekends in Garden Grove. But it is A strawberry-flavored event just a couple of blocks from where the event is usually held.

Henry’s Bar, a popular pub on Stanford Avenue between Nelson and Nutwood streets, will be holding a “Strawberry Foodie Festival” on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It will be offering “classic festival foods,” including strawberry shortcake, corn dogs, loaded baked potatoes, chili cheese fries, a donut cheeseburger, strawberry churros and more.

The festival is annually held at the Village Green Park not far from Henry’s. One of the largest community events in the western United States, the Festival commemorates Garden Grove’s agricultural past and raises funds for many local non-profit civic and charitable organizations.

SA voters vote to oust Cecilia Iglesias

The Orange County Registrar of Voters is reporting that voters in Santa Ana have voted to recall Councilwoman Cecilia Iglesias (Ward  6) from office.

The final count shows 11,847 votes (55.63 percent) in favor of removing her from her post, with 9,448 (44.37 percent) opposed.

On the question of who should replace her, Nelida “Nelly” Mendoza finished first in a three-way race. She polled 7,492 votes (43.2 percent), with Thai Viet Phan getting 6,223 votes (35.88 percent) and Angie Cano 3,628 votes (20.92 percent).
