The Orange County Health Care Agency’s count of new confirmed coronavirus cases hit 179 in its Sunday report. That brings the cumulative number of cases to date to 5,336.
Of those cases, 574 were residents of skilled nursing facilities and 366 were inmates of county jails.
The average number of cases reported over the past seven days is 142. Sunday’s tally of new cases is the fourth highest since counting began on March 30.
There are currently 181 cases hospitalized, including 78 in intensive care units.
The number of tests so far in Orange County hit 100,291, with 755 in Sunday’s report.
On a city-by-city basis, Santa Ana is still the leader with 976 cases, followed by Anaheim with 857, Huntington Beach with 324, Garden Grove with 273 and Orange with 252.
Local cities Westminster and Stanton have 99 and 61 cases, respectively.
Globally, the Johns Hopkins University reported on Sunday the worldwide total confirmed cases at 5,405,029, led by the United States with 1,643,098.
Following the U.S. is Brazil with 363,211, Russia with 344,481, United Kingdom with 260,916 and Spain with 235,772.
The global death total is now at 344,997, with the United States having 97, 698, followed by the U.K, with 38,875, Italy with 32,785, Spain with 28,752 and France with 28,370.
