Poisoning of homeless investigated

THE POISONING of homeless people in Huntington Beach is being investigated by police and the Orange County District Attorney’s office. One person has been arrested (Flickr/Hajee).

Local authorities are moving against the person or persons suspected in the poisoning of homeless people in Huntington Beach.

One suspect has reportedly been arrested in connection with the incidents. No details are available.

On Monday, the Orange County District Attorney’s office will hold a joint press conference in Santa Ana with Huntington Beach police and officials to discuss the efforts of the county and the city to investigate a series of poisonings of the unsheltered in Surf City.


“Homeless persons were poisoned with food laced with oleoresin capsicum, which is twice as strong as the pepper spray used by police,” stated an announcement from the OCDA, “and their reactions were filmed.

“The victims suffered a variety of symptoms including seizure-like symptoms, difficulty breathing, vomiting and intense mouth and stomach pain. Several of the victims required hospitalization,” the announcement added.
