Cases down, COVID-19 deaths rise

NEW CORONAVIRUS cases in Orange County were reported at 130 on Saturday, along with seven deaths (Shutterstock).

Again, new confirmed cases of coronavirus showed a decline but deaths continued to rise, according to Saturday’s report from the Orange County Health Care Agency.

The OCHCA’s latest tally shows 130 new cases, down from 166 the day before. However, the seven deaths in the latest report brings to 43 the total of Orange County fatalities over the course of a week. To date, 217 deaths are ascribed to the pandemic here.

The cumulative total of coronavirus cases is at 8,269, of which 3,947 are considered to have recovered.  Six hundred and seventy-three tests were reported, with the total at 177,950.

Three hundred and six are in hospitals from COVID-19, with 151 in intensive care units.

The city count shows Santa Ana with 1,774 cases (up 23), followed by Anaheim with 1,555 (up 37), Garden Grove with 464 (up five), Huntington Beach with 417 (up five) and Orange with 370 (up two). Westminster has 184 and Stanton 96, each up two cases.
