Sunday was a day for record bad news in the local fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The Orange County Health Care Agency reported a record high 434 new confirmed cases.
The old record – revealed in Saturday’s report – was 413.
Of those, 1,047 are skilled nursing facility residents, and 389 county jail inmates. A total of 4,953 cases are considered recovered.
Two deaths were reported with the total now at 269 fatalities, of which 135 were skilled nursing facility residents.
The city count shows Santa Ana with 2,189, followed by Anaheim with 2,007, Garden Grove with 597, Huntington Beach with 468 and Orange with 456.
Westminster has 219 and Stanton 135.
