Virus cases trend down, for now

NEW CORONAVIRUS cases in Orange County were reported Tuesday at 147 new cases. (Flickr).

The roller coaster nature of the daily count of new confirmed coronavirus cases in Orange County continued on Tuesday, with two days of high numbers followed by two days of lower figures.

Today’s tally from the county health care agency shows 147 new cases. Monday’s number was 175. Saturday and Sunday had totals of 413 and 434.

The new cumulative total for the OC is now at 10,737, of which 1,079 cases were from skilled nursing facilities and 389 county jail inmates. A total of 5,177 cases are considered recovered.

Four new deaths were reported, bringing the total COVID-19 fatalities to 273. Of that, 138 were from skilled nursing facilities. Three hundred forty nine cases are hospitalized, with 137 in intensive care units.

The city count shows Santa Ana the leader with 2,260 (up 33 cases) followed by Anaheim with 2,060 (up 23), Garden Grove with 619 (up 11), Huntington Beach with 495 (up six) and Orange with 471 (up seven).

Westminster has 227 cases (up four) and Stanton 140 (no change).
