Woman shot dead by deputies

A WOMAN armed with a pistol was fatally shot early Wednesday morning in an encounter with Orange County Sheriff’s deputies in Lake Forest (OCSD photo).

A woman was fatally shot Wednesday morning by Orange County sheriff’s deputies during a reported residential burglary in Lake Forest.

According to the OCSD, deputies were called to the 22000 block of Loumont Drive at about 1 a.m. in response to a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, they encountered a woman across the street from the home who appeared to be holding a pistol.

The deputies gave “numerous commands” to the woman to drop the gun, and when she refused to comply, she was shot. She has not been identified, but is described as a female Asian in her late 20s.  A gun was located at the scene.

She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing, according to the OCSD.
