UPDATE: Orange County was placed today (Monday) on the state watch list of counties being monitored for worsening trends of coronavrius. According to the California Department of Public Health, the county is experiencing an increase of hospitalizations, driven by community transmission from gatherings, workplace transmissions and outbreaks in places liked assisted living facilities.
After a weekend pause in which the number of new confirmed coronavirus cases declined, the new local tally Monday rose back up again.
Of that number, 1,131 are residents of skilled nursing facilities, 395 are inmates of county jails and 111 are homeless people. Judged to be recovered are 7,193.
Four new deaths were reported, leaving that number at 330.
Those hospitalized were counted at 485, with 175 cases now in intensive care units.
The case rate per 100,000 rose from 108.9 percent the day before to 109.2.
