
1,028 NEW cases of coronavirus were reported Monday by the Orange County Health Care Agency (Pexels/Anna Shvets).
The number of new confirmed coronavirus cases for the first time breached the 1,000 mark in Monday’s count by the Orange County Health Care Agency.
Today’s total is 1,028 cases, an increase of over 300 more than the previous high reported on Friday.
That number brings the OC tally to 17,882, of which 1,220 are skilled nursing facility patients, 406 inmates of county jails and 111 homeless persons. Those judged to be recovered are 8,634.
No new deaths were reported, leaving that sum at 366. The count of cases currently hospitalized also hit a new county record of 634, and the number of cases currently in intensive care units also set a new mark of 203.
Another key measure – testing positivity – dropped slightly, going to 13.8 from 14.0 percent. The acceptable threshold is placed at 8 percent.
The city count shows Santa Ana with 3,495 total cases, followed by Anaheim with 3,258, then Garden Grove with 942, Huntington Beach with 873 and Orange with 823 cases.
Westminster has 343 cases and Stanton 209.
