After a day of declines, the count of confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths rose again in Saturday’s tally from the Orange County Health Care Authority.
According to the OCHCA, the number of new cases received is 702 and 25 deaths. That compares to 405 and three on Friday. The cumulative number of cases so far is 29,011 (of which 13, 301 are considered recovered) and 494 fatalities.
Six hundred ninety two cases are hospitalized (up from 682 on Friday), with 232 in intensive care units (down from 235).
The test positivity measure is again headed down, this time to 13.5 percent. That measures the percent of people tested who are considered “positive” for the infection, even if they have no symptoms. That’s a decline from 13.9 percent. The threshold is eight percent.
Saturday’s count for the top five cities with cases followed. Deaths are in parentheses.
- Santa Ana: 5,419 (128).
- Anaheim: 4,967 (123).
- Garden Grove: 1,499 (14).
- Huntington Beach: 1,417 (43).
- Orange: 1,337 (17).
Westminster has 535 cases and 12 deaths; Stanton has 342 cases and four deaths.
