Daily COVID count dips to 710

The daily count of coronavirus cases reported to the Orange County Health Care Agency on Friday is 710, a dip from Thursday’s total of 905.

Thirteen deaths were reported, down from 22 the day before.

The new cumulative total of OC cases is 33,358, of which 18,007 are considered recovered. The total number of fatalities is at 556. Six hundred fifty-two people are hospitalized, of which 215 are in intensive care units.

At the international and national level, the worldwide number of cases is at 15,649,261, according to John Hopkins University. The U.S. has the most cases with 4,097,270. Global deaths are now at 636,752, with 143,184 in the United States.

Town Center consulting deal before council

The Stanton City Council will consider awarding a contract to a consulting firm to develop a specific plan for the community’s “Town Center.”

Meeting telephonically on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., the council will consider awarding the contract  – worth up to $300,000 – to KTGY, a national consulting firm with an office in Los Angeles.

Body is found near Santa Ana riverbed

The body of a man – so far unidentified – was found this morning (Friday) on a dirt path near the Santa Ana River, north of Fifth Street.

SANTA ANA police are investigating in incident where a man’s body was found by the Santa Ana Riverbed (Shutterstock).

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, officers found the man at 5:49 a.m. He was bleeding from an unseen injury and paramedics declared him deceased at 6:04 a.m.

The name of the deceased man is being withheld until the Orange County Coroner Division identifies him and his next of kin is notified.

Man jumps to his death on freeway

A motorist who led law enforcement officers on a chase through three Orange County cities Thursday died when he jumped to his death from a freeway overpass in Anaheim.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the pursuit started in Fullerton around 11:30 p.m., with a police helicopter later spotting the vehicle in Buena Park on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway. The helicopter followed the car until the motor vehicle took the Euclid Street exit in Anaheim and struck the median wall of the off-ramp. The driver initially refused orders to get out of his car, but then left his auto and jumped over the wall, falling 50 feet to his death, according to the CHP.
