Coronavirus count is up again

CORONAVIRUS cases in Orange County on Wednesday hit 439 (Shutterstock).

After a week of declines, the count of COVID-19 positive cases reported to the Orange County Health Care Agency jumped up again on Wednesday, more than doubling to 439.

Six more deaths were reported. The new cumulative total of coronavirus cases in the county is now at 35,272, of which 21,926 are considered recovered. The total number of fatalities is at 587.

Six hundred twenty-six cases are now hospitalized, with 204 in intensive care units.

The test-positivity percentage – which shows what percentage of people tested for the virus actually were infected regardless of symptoms – dropped slightly from 11.1 on Tuesday to 11.0 today.

Here is a list of OC cities with the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.

  • Santa Ana: 6,665 (151).
  • Anaheim: 6,024 (147).
  • Garden Grove: 1,886 (20).
  • Huntington Beach: 1,649 (45).
  • Orange: 1,622 (23).

Westminster has 650 cases and 17 deaths; Stanton has 411 cases and five deaths.
