Pedestrian dead after hit by car

A WOMAN was arrested for DUI Wednesday morning when her car struck and killed a pedestrian in Huntington Beach (Shutterstock).

A 26-year-man suffered fatal injuries early Wednesday morning when he was struck by a car as he walked along the street in Huntington Beach.

According to Motor Sgt. Joshua Page of the HBPD, the incident took place around 12:19 a.m. in the intersection of Springdale Street and Croupier Drive. That’s north of Bolsa Avenue and south of Westminster Boulevard.

Arriving officers found the body in the roadway. The driver, a 22-year-old woman, was nearby with her vehicle. She cooperated with police and was arrested for driving under the influence.

Police believe that the woman was driving northbound on Springdale when her car struck the pedestrian, who was crossing eastbound north of the intersection with Croupier. He suffered extensive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
