After several days of encouraging reports, Thursday’s statistics from the Orange County Health Care Agency are showing mixed results about the coronavirus pandemic.
The total of new cases of COVID-19 reported to the OCHCA is 429, up from 295 on Wednesday. There were 23 deaths, up from 18 on Wednesday. The new to-date total of coronavirus cases for Orange County is 44,936, of which 36,596 are judged to be recovered. The death total is 856.
Four hundred cases are currently hospitalized, with 118 cases in intensive care. Thursday’s test positivity rate is at 5.7 percent, an improvement from Wednesday’s 5.9 percent. The goal is less than 8 percent. “Positivity” relates to that portion on people who are tested and end up positive for the coronavirus, regardless of symptoms.

- Santa Ana: 8,747 (215).
- Anaheim: 7,673 (199).
- Garden Grove: 2,449 (47).
- Orange: 2,068 (36).
- Huntington Beach: 1,994 (56).
Westminster has 852 cases and 22 deaths; Stanton has 556 cases and nine deaths.
