Pedestrian killed in Westminster

A WOMAN was killed Sunday in Westminster when she was struck by an auto while walking on Beach Boulevard (Shutterstock).

A pedestrian walking along Beach Boulevard in Westminster was fatally struck by an automobile early Monday morning.

According to the Orange County Coroner’s office, Jamee Goodmundson, 52, was walking near the Best Western Palm Garden at 13659 Beach (between Trask Avenue and Westminster Boulevard) when she was hit while walking in the southbound lanes at around at around 4:51 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:08 a.m.

An investigation is continuing.

The coroner’s office also identified a person who died Sunday from injuries on Aug. 21 when his vehicle struck a tree in Santa Ana. Richard Carrasco, Jr., 20, was pronounced dead at Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana at 9:45 p.m.

GGUSD board meets tonight

The Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education will meet tonight (Tuesday) with sessions at 5:05 and 7 p.m.

A closed session will be first, with the board considering pending litigation and the superintendent’s evaluation. The regular session will include public hearings on the proposed Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan 2020-21.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the meeting will be conducted via telecommunications.

The GGUSD serves most of Garden Grove and parts of Anaheim, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster.
