CODY’S TRUCK will get its “reveal” this evening at the Main Street car show in Garden Grove (Garling family photos).
Cody Garling has traveled a long, hard road. But tonight (Friday), he will have his vehicle of dreams to ride in.
A graduate of Pacifica High and a former police Explorer with the Garden Grove Police Department, he was diagnosed in 2016 with leukemia. He’s fought the battle for over five years and recently received a stem cell transplant from his older brother, Cristian.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation contacted the Garling family about a wish, and Cody’s dream was to restore his 1967 C10 Chevy truck. He was sponsored by his fellow car enthusiasts, and the foundation has been renovating the interior and paint of the classic vehicle for the last eight months.
“I believe this kid fought to stay alive for his truck,” said his mother, Suzette. “He loves his truck that much.”
At 5:30 p.m. Friday (today), the finished product will be revealed at the weekly car show on Main Street in Garden Grove. A dream, or wish, come true.
