Man held in brother’s murder

A 36-year-old Anaheim man was arrested Thursday morning for the shooting death of his brother.

According to the APD, Sergio Marcelino Hurtado is facing charges of murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm in the killing of Jose Leroy Hurtado, 45.

On Wednesday night, police responded to a report of a shooting in the 600 block of N. Zeyn Street. That’s just northeast of Pearson Park, a block west of Anaheim Boulevard. Arriving officers found Jose suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he was declared dead.

Anaheim’s SWAT team cleared the home to ensure there were no other victims. Homicide detectives took over the investigation and worked through the night. Their efforts resulted in the arrests of Sergio. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
