More new coronavirus cases were reported by the Orange County Health Care Agency in its tally on Friday.

The number of new COVID positive cases is given as 209, an increase from 158 reported on Thursday. However, six deaths were reported, down slightly from seven the day before.

Public health officials caution against reading too much into daily tallies. The key metrics that classify counties into “tiers” is based on the twin metrics of test positivity percent and number of positive cases per 100,000. Each of those is computed using a seven-day average with a seven-day lag, and they are updated each Tuesday.
