New coronavirus cases in Orange County showed another increase in Saturday’s report by the Orange County Health Care Agency, the second consecutive day those numbers are up.
A total of 239 COVID positive cases were reported, compared to 209 on Friday and 158 on Thursday. The number of deaths declined, though, from six to five.
The total number of OC coronavirus cases to date is 54,357, of which 48,831 are considered recovered. Cases currently hospitalized are 160, down from 175 the day before. Cases in intensive care units dropped from 48 to 47.
Public health officials caution against reading too much into daily tallies. The key metrics that classify counties into “tiers” is based on the twin metrics of test positivity percent and number of positive cases per 100,000. Each of those is computed using a seven-day average with a seven-day lag, and they are updated each Tuesday.
