COVID-19 deaths spike to 31

Deaths rose sharply in Thursday’s report on coronavirus from the Orange County Health Care Authority. The number of people who died from COVID-19 hit 31, compared to 19 on Wednesday and zero on Monday and Tuesday.

The number of people hospitalized with the virus in Orange County was put at 164 (down one from 165 on Wednesday) with 66 in intensive care units, up from 60 on Wednesday.

Here is the list of the Orange County cities with the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.

  • Santa Ana: 10,843 (301)
  • Anaheim: 9,640 (301)
  • Garden Grove: 3,110 (95)
  • Orange: 2,557 (68)
  • Huntington Beach: 2,493 (81)

Westminster had 1,110 cases with 30 deaths; Stanton had 696 cases with 17 deaths.
