A new look will be coming to a landmark building in Garden Grove’s downtown.
The city planning commission Thursday on a 4-0 vote – with two members absent and one seat vacant – approved the renovation of what is now the Main Street Pavilion at Main Street and Acacia Parkway.
The major renovation is to redo the façade of the two-story, 18,200-square foot building. At the same time, owner Elizabeth Dang plans to convert some of the existing office spaces to other allowed uses, such as a juice bar/café on the ground floor and a residential apartment unit on the second floor.
The redesign of the exterior is described as “stylistic finishes being used to freshen the building.” A second floor balcony will be added and windows on the upper floor would be replaced with “Juliet”-style balconies with black iron railings. The building will be re-stuccoed and painted a light, off-white color.
