According to the GGPD, the incident took place at 3:32 p.m. on Thursday in the area of 9th Street and Garden Grove Boulevard. A search of the vehicle turned up a fanny pack with a loaded pistol, an extra loaded pistol magazine and the currency.

The driver was identified as David Barraza. As a convicted felon, he is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition.

From there, police obtained and served a search warrant of his room at a local hotel where they found a high capacity pistol magazine, a handgun holster, more ammunition, a digital scale and a plastic bag containing what police suspect to be illegal narcotics.

He was arrested and booked into Orange County Jail in Santa Ana.
