
EMPTY FREEWAYS and smoky skies were a big part of the landscape earlier this week in areas of Orange County (OCFA image).
UPDATE: The Silverado fire is now considered to be 70 percent contained. Nine structures were damaged and three destroyed. Updated at 7 p.m.

As you can probably tell by looking in the sky or taking a deep breath, major progress has been made in containing the Silverado and Blue Ridge fires in Orange County.
The Silverado Fire east of Irvine is now considered to be 63 percent contained.
According to the latest (7 a.m.) update for both fires today (Friday), “Firefighters worked through the evening patrolling and mopping up the fire perimeter. Lights winds and overnight humidity allowed fire activity to subside overnight. Damage inspection continues.
The Blue Ridge fire in the Brea area is considered 47 percent contained.
All evacuation orders have been lifted in both areas.
