New coronavirus cases nearly doubled in Orange County overnight, according to Friday’s report from the county health care agency. The latest tally shows 598 new instances of COVID-19 infections, on Friday, compared to 293 on Thursday. Deaths declined from six to two, however. Hospitalizations fell from 251 to 244, but cases in intensive care units from coronavirus rose from 89 to 95.

Here’s a list of the Orange County cities with the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.

  • Santa Ana: 12,330 (323)
  • Anaheim: 10,980 (328)
  • Garden Grove: 3,554 (112)
  • Fullerton: 3,110 (106)
  • Orange: 2,969 (72)
  • Huntington Beach: 2,811 (86).

Westminster has 1,277 cases and 31 deaths. Stanton has 758 cases and 18 deaths.

At the national and international levels, Johns Hopkins University is reporting 53,211,792 coronavirus cases worldwide, with 10,707,397 in the United States. Global deaths are at 1,300,076, with 244,169 in the U.S.
