The Huntington Beach City School District will soon have a new superintendent. The HBCSD has named Dr. Leisa Winston as the next top educator for the K-8 district.That appointment is expected to be effective – pending contract negotiations and final board approval – on Dec. 15.
Winston currently serves as the deputy superintendent of human resources and instructional services for the Laguna Beach Unified School District. Previous to that, she has served as an elementary special education teacher, program specialist, assistant superintendent and deputy superintendent.
Until she is officially confirmed and hired, Greg Magnuson will continue to serve as interim superintendent of the district. Winston’s anticipated start date is Jan. 4, 2021.
The HBCSD is a K-8 district based in Huntington Beach and has seven elementary and two middle schools.
“Spread Holiday Cheer” in Westminster
Residents of Westminster are invited to share in “Spreading Holiday Cheer” by submitting a photo and or video of their outdoor holiday decorations. Those images will be posted on the City of Westminster’s Virtual Recreation Center and social media outlets.
The program is free and residents can submit their family-friendly photo or video and address to CSROnline@Westminster-ca.gov by Dec. 23.
A list of addresses will be posted online for residents to view and each participating home will receive a free “Spreading Holiday Cheer” yard sign. For more information, call (714) 895-2860 or go to www.westminster-ca.gov .
