Hospitalizations are on the rise

TUESDAY’S COUNT of hospitalizations from coronavirus cases in Orange County rose again (Shutterstock).

The count of new coronavirus cases declined by nearly half, but hospitalizations continue to rise, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Tuesday report.

Eight hundred thirty-seven new infections of COVID-19 were reported. That’s a high number, but still less than the 1,554 in Monday’s tally. After zero deaths on Monday, there were two in today’s report.

However, hospitalizations continue to rise, going to 483 from Monday’s 380. The number of COVID-19 cases in intensive care units climbed from 105 to 116, the second consecutive day in triple digits.

So far, 71,953 coronavirus cases have been detected in Orange County, of which 58,289 are considered recovered. The death toll is at 1,556.

  • Santa Ana: 13,752 (324)
  • Anaheim: 12,184 (339)
  • Garden Grove: 4,065 (115)
  • Fullerton: 3,466 (112)
  • Orange: 3,405 (72)
  • Huntington Beach: 3,318 (31).

Westminster has 1,514 cases and 31 deaths. Stanton has 845 cases and 18 deaths.
