Deadline extended for pot bids

THE STANTON City Council on Tuesday extended deadlines for some applications for cannabis business in the city (Shutterstock).

Potential applicants in three categories of cannabis business will get one more chance to submit their paperwork to the City of Stanton.

On Tuesday the city council voted 5-0 to re-open the application period for those categories for which no entries were received. They are distributor, distributor– transport only and testing laboratory. The council approved a 14-day extension in those three categories.

The city has received 39 applications for storefront sales, nine for retailers with non-storefront delivery, three for cultivation and one for manufacturing. For those categories having received applications, the screening, review, background and licensing process will continue.

Stanton is preparing for commercial operations regarding cannabis-related businesses that could include cultivation, processing and sales. A consultant has told the city that they could bring in $1 million or more in tax revenue to the city.
