The Costa Mesa Police Department is seeking to identify potential additional victims of a man arrested Monday for sexually assaulting two underage girls.
According to the CMPD, in September 2020 the mother of the girls, ages 14 and 12, contacted police and alleged that Mark Allen Korando, 69, of Costa Mesa had inappropriately touched them.
Further investigation indicated the assaults had started two years ago. Korando was arrested at his home on suspicion of a variety of sexual offenses against a child. He is in custody at Orange County Jail on $1 million bail.
The suspect is a member of a Costa Mesa church where he would chaperone groups of girls on out-of-state trips to provide aid and support for communities in need. The public’s assistance is sought in finding other victims. Anyone with such information is asked to call Detective Dan Holl at (714) 754-4873 or Sgt. Scott Stafford at (714) 754-4933.
