Cases and deaths decline in OC

While new cases and deaths are declining, hospitals and intensive care units in Orange County are under increasing pressure.

According to the county health care agency, Friday’s report showed the new of new COVID-19 infections to be 2,594, a drop from 2,615 on Thursday. Deaths reported also declined, from 13 to three.

However, hospitalizations due to the virus increased from 1,519 to 1,557 and ICU patients rose from 343 to 358.

In the Southern California region, which includes Orange County, the adjusted ICU capacity remains at zero, while the unadjusted capacity is at 10.7 percent. Fifteen percent and higher is the goal.

  • Santa Ana: 23,119 (349)
  • Anaheim: 19,737 (372)
  • Garden Grove: 7,116 (122)
  • Orange: 5,572 (79)
  • Fullerton: 5,429 (129)
  • Huntington Beach: 4,714 (94)

Westminster has 2,948 cases and 38 deaths. Stanton has 1,457 cases and 19 deaths.

Looking globally, Johns Hopkins University is reporting 75.4 million cases, with the United States leading with 17.3 million. Global deaths are at 1.67 million with 312,722 in the U.S.
