It was a deadly Christmas in Orange County for coronavirus patients.

A total of 63 persons were reported to have died on Friday, Christmas Day and on Saturday from COVID-19 infections.

According to the county health care agency, as there was no report posted on Friday, the deaths on Dec. 25 totaled 41 and 22 on Saturday.

As of Saturday, there were 1,957 coronavirus cases in county hospitals and 432 in intensive care units, both record highs.

If there’s any bright side to the report, it’s that daily new cases are declining. From Wednesday’s peak of 4,406 cases, the number dropped to 3,490 on Thursday to 3,196 on Friday and 2,757 today.

  • Santa Ana: 27,848 (369)
  • Anaheim: 24,401 (395)
  • Garden Grove: 8,959 (129)
  • Orange: 6,931 (91)
  • Fullerton: 6,540 (130)
  • Huntington Beach: 5,764 (99)

Westminster had 3,885 cases and 39 deaths. Stanton has 1,826 cases and 22 deaths.
