Most OC metrics point down

The arc of statistics of the coronavirus pandemic in Orange County continues to show an up-and-down pattern, according to Wednesday’s report from the county health agency.

New cases, deaths and hospitalizations all nosed downward, but patients in intensive care units showed a slight increase.

Wednesday’s tally showed 1,701 new cases of the COVID-19 infection, down from 2,314 on Tuesday. Deaths declined by more than half, to 31 from 64 the day before. Patients hospitalized for coronavirus slipped to 1,975 from 2,007.

However, those in ICUs rose to 527 from 523.

The to-date total of cases is now at 216,509, of which 147,280 have been judged recovered. Cumulative deaths are at 2,508.

  • Santa Ana: 39,420 (466)
  • Anaheim: 36,335 (500)
  • Garden Grove: 13,890 (174)
  • Orange: 10,189 (121)
  • Fullerton: 9,658 (163)
  • Huntington Beach: 8,803 (122)

Westminster has 5,956 cases and 91 deaths. Stanton has 2,739 cases and 31 deaths.
