Police investigate fatal shooting

SANTA ANA police are investigating a fatal shooting Wednesday night (Shutterstock).

Santa Ana police are investigating a homicide that took place Wednesday night.

According to the SAPD, officers on an unrelated call for service on S. Raitt Street at 11:04 p.m. heard “numerous gunshots” to the north. In the area of 100 S. Raitt St. they found a man sitting in a parked vehicle.

He was unresponsive and had suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso. First aid was administered by officers until the arrival of paramedics from the Orange County Fire Authority.

The man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation. The name of the victim is unknown pending identification by the Orange County Coroner’ Office.
