New coronavirus cases and deaths spiked in Saturday’s report from the Orange County Health Care Agency.
According to the OCHCA, new COVID-19 infections rose to 2,752 from 892 on Friday, reversing a downward trend of several days. Deaths climbed to 78 from one on Friday.
The two other major metrics were more encouraging. Hospitalizations from coronavirus slumped from 1,896 to 1,818. Patients being treated in intensive care units slid from 516 to 482.
The to-date total of coronavirus cases confirmed in Orange County is now at 221,493. Of that number, 152,368 are considered recovered. Total deaths are at 2,752.

- Santa Ana: 40,271 (486)
- Anaheim: 37,154 (515)

- Huntington Beach: 9,021 (125)
Westminster has 6,094 cases with 95 deaths. Stanton has 2,783 cases with 35 deaths.
