New cases rise, but deaths decline

THREE MEASUREMENTS of the coronavirus in Orange County showed declines on Wednesday (Shutterstock).

New cases of coronavirus in Orange County ticked upwards in Thursday’s report from the county health agency.

According to the OCHCA, cases rose to 1,276 from 1,038 on Wednesday. However, the other three major metrics showed declines. Deaths dropped to 29 from 71 on Wednesday. Hospitalizations went to 1,592 from 1,639 and patients being treated in intensive care units fell to 439 from 448.

The cumulative total of coronavirus cases in the county is at 228,297, of which 170,229 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 2,868.

Here is a list of the OC cities with the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.

  • Santa Ana: 41,354 (508)
  • Anaheim: 38,192 (554)
  • Garden Grove: 14,755 (210)
  • Orange: 10,708 (145)
  • Fullerton: 10,191 (193)
  • Huntington Beach: 9,324 (139)

Westminster has had 6,298 cases and 107 deaths. Stanton has had 2,859 cases and 38 deaths.
