According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Mark Simon, a resident of Surf City, has been charged with “entering a restricted building or grounds and unlawful activities on Capitol grounds.”

The FBI agent who made the arrest located a blog post with the title “From HB to DC” … helped storm the Capitol for Trump!” Similar material had been posted – then deleted – on Facebook and You Tube. A video posted online allegedly shows Simon in the threshold of the Capitol building. He has turned the camera on himself and said, “In the Capitol baby, yeah.” He later added, “2021 Donald Trump.”

The agency coordinated with the Huntington Beach Police Department, who confirmed that Simon was a “known activist” and that Simon was the man depicted in the post and video.

So far, at least 150 persons have been arrested in the incident, in which five people died. Federal officials are reportedly considering additionally charging some of the persons arrested with sedition, which carries a potential sentence of 20 years in federal prison.
