Friday night car show returns

THE FRIDAY NIGHT CAR SHOW will return on Feb. 5 to Main Street in downtown Garden Grove (OC Tribune photo).

The Friday Night Car Show on Main Street in Garden Grove will be back on Feb. 5. It goes on between 4 and 8 p.m. and features many classic cars. Music and car-related vendors are a staple of the event taking place on Main between Garden Grove Boulevard and Acacia Parkway. That section of the street is closed to through traffic. Parking in available in the lot off Grove Street, right behind the commercial block along that stretch.

Local students are being honored by their colleges and universities as the fall semester ends and the spring semester – in-person or distance – begins.

Here are some of them:

  • Jack O’Donnell of Huntington Beach has been named to the honors list at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa
  • Jacob Kunihara and Adriana Sweigart of Huntington Beach have made the provost’s list at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York
  • Hannah Gorton of Huntington Beach has been named to the dean’s list at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio
  • Paige Dispalatro of Huntington Beach has been named to the dean’s list at Missouri State University in Springfield
  • Lucy O’Donnell of Huntington Beach has been named to the dean’s list at the University of New Hampshire in Durham
  • Named to the dean’s list at Kansas State University are Brett Wozniak of Garden Grove and – from Huntington Beach – Mikayla Edwards and Christian Moore.
  • Emily Sutton of Garden Grove has been named to the dean’s honor roll at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.
  • Derik Ozturk of Huntington Beach (masters of science in electrical and computer engineering) and Anh Hoang of Garden Grove (master of science in computer science) have graduated from Georgia Tech in  Atlanta.

A bake/mask sale will be held on Sunday, Jan. 31 to benefit Magic Mike’s Pizza, which was victimized recently by a break-in. Magic Mike’s is located at 6152 Garden Grove Blvd., in Westminster, near Springdale Street. The event starts at 11 a.m.
