New cases continue to fall

The number of confirmed new cases of coronavirus in Orange County continues to fall, according to Tuesday’s report from the county health agency.

According to the OCHCA, new confirmed cases are at 768, compared to 1,003 on Monday and the first time under 1,000 in weeks. Deaths rose from 47 to 53, but hospitalizations and patients in intensive care units both declined.

Cumulative cases in the county are now at 233,394, of which 179,803 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 3,109. The positivity rate for the county is at 12 percent, a decline from 15 percent. That’s still high, as health officials estimate that as many as one out of 13 county residents may have been infected, even though they may not have any symptoms.

  • Santa Ana: 42,307 (558)
  • Anaheim: 39,080 (588)
  • Garden Grove: 15,202 (241)
  • Orange: 11,026 (158)
  • Fullerton: 10,453 (209)
  • Huntington Beach: 9,562 (152)

Westminster has had 6,488 cases and 124 deaths. Stanton has had 2,927 cases and 40 deaths.
