Steep drop in new OC cases

After a sharp rise in new cases on Friday, the report on coronavirus in Orange County took a steep drop on Saturday.

According to the county health care agency, the number of confirmed new COVID-19 cases dropped from 1,028 on Friday to 739 today. Deaths increased from 30 to 33, but hospitalizations due to the virus declined from 1,233 to 1,164.

Patients being treated in intensive care units rose slightly from 342 to 347.

The cumulative total of cases in Orange County is now at 237,077, of which 197,050 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 3,312. The 14-day test positivity average remains at 12 percent.

  • Santa Ana: 42,752 (582)
  • Anaheim: 39,585 (609)
  • Garden Grove: 15,433 (259)
  • Orange: 11,157 (166)
  • Fullerton: 10,577 (219)
  • Huntington Beach: 9,692 (156).

Westminster has 6,583 cases and 130 deaths. Stanton has 2,962 cases and 41 deaths.
