
AS VACCINATIONS against the coronavirus continue Thursday’s report showed more new cases and deaths but fewer hospitalizations and ICU patients (Shutterstock).
Following several days of progress in the statistics measuring the success in battling the coronavirus pandemic in Orange County comes a “glass half-full or half-empty” report.
According to the county health agency, Thursday’s numbers show new cases up and deaths also on the increase. However, hospitalizations due to COVID-19 infections showed another decrease, as did patients treated for the virus in intensive care units.
Cases rose to 779 from 454 the day before, and deaths went from 35 to 42.
Hospitalizations declined from 1,009 to 965 and patients in ICUs fell from 310 to 298.
The cumulative total of confirmed coronavirus cases is now at 240,999, with 209,270 considered recovered. Deaths are at 3,493.

Westminster has had 6,719 cases and 136 deaths. Stanton has had 3,029 cases and 45 deaths.
