Mixed signals from COVID stats

Saturday’s statistics about the coronavirus pandemic in Orange County sent mixed messages about how things are going.

According to the county health authority, new cases and deaths showed increases, but hospitalizations from COVID-19 cases and the use of intensive care units both declined.

The count of new cases grew from 324 on Friday to 391 on Saturday. Deaths were at 44, up from 41 on Thursday and Friday.

However, hospitalizations continue to fall, going to 591 on Saturday from 636 on Friday. ICU use is at 196, compared to 215 the day before.

To date, 244,380 cases have been recorded in Orange County, of which 222,990 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 3,770.

  • Santa Ana: 43,705 (672)
  • Anaheim: 40,630 (687)
  • Garden Grove: 15,958 (291)
  • Orange: 11,505 (195)
  • Fullerton: 10,921 (238)
  • Huntington Beach: 10,113 (174).

Westminster has had 6,835 cases and 146 deaths. Stanton has had 3,079 cases and 47 deaths.
