Illegal gambling was the target of the Garden Grove Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit on Friday evening.
According to the GGPD, the SIU served a search warrant on a suspected “slap house” in the 13000 block of Cypress Street in Garden Grove. That’s just south of Garden Grove Boulevard, west of Nelson Street/Century Boulevard.
Officers arrested 21 people for outstanding warrants, illegal gambling, and/or obstructing an officer/resisting arrest.
Seized was $4,000 in cash, a Mac-10 firearm with a loaded high capacity magazine and suppressor, two loaded handguns and one dismantled assault rifle. Eight gambling machines were also located in a detached garage.
The term “slap house” refers to the video gambling machines that are played by banging with hands on the controls.
