An elderly woman struck by a car on Saturday while trying to cross a street in Huntington Beach has died.

According to the HBPD, the deceased is a 69-year-old Huntington Beach resident. The incident occurred at 6:55 p.m. on March 6 on Talbert Avenue, east of Bell Circle.

Arriving officers found the woman lying in the roadway. She had sustained major injuries and was taken by Huntington Beach Fire Department ambulance to a local trauma center in critical condition. She succumbed to her injuries on Monday.

The driver of the 2015 Nissan Murano that struck her, a 57-year-old Huntington Beach man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police don’t believe that alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident.

A preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was trying to cross Talbert outside of a crosswalk when the vehicle heading west struck her.
