Virus numbers still trend low

THE BATTLE against the coronavirus isn’t won yet. To safeguard against infection – and to speed up the re-opening of schools and business – keep wearing those masks, washing hands and – as appopriate – practice social distancing (Shutterstock).

Numbers in the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Monday report on coronavirus continued to show an up-and-down pattern, but remained comparatively low.

Cases hit 112 on Monday, an increase from 96 on Sunday, but still well below Saturday’s count of 248. Deaths dropped from seven on Friday to four on Sunday and zero on Monday.

Hospitalizations stayed level at 109, but patients being treated for COVID-19 declined from 23 to 16.

The to-date total of cases is 251,310, of which 243,435 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 4,772.

Westminster has had 7,096 cases and 197 deaths. Stanton has had 3,147 cases and 66 deaths.
