Dodgers, Lakers, Kings all win

CHRIS TAYLOR hit a three-run home run Friday as the Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays (Wikipedia).

The Dodgers and Angels each were involved in relatively one-sided games on Saturday, but with vastly different outcomes. The irony was that both teams ended the night in first place in their divisions.

Also on Saturday, the Lakers won over a tough opponent and the Kings split a series with a win. Here’s the Sports Final for April 10, 2021.

Dodgers jump into lead and hang on

Chris Taylor hit a three-run home run in the second inning to spark the Dodgers to an early 5-0 lead. After that, the boys from Los Angeles County held off a late surge by the Washington Nationals to post 9-5 win and remain atop the National League West with a 7-2 record.

The two teams will finish the series Sunday in L.A.

After that, the Dodgers will Monday off . They Angels will open a three-game home series against the Colorado Rockies (3-6) on Tuesday.

Ouch! Angels get spanked in Toronto, 15-1

The only good news on Saturday for fans of the Angels is that, despite losing 15-1 to the Blue Jays in Toronto, they remain in first place in the American League West.

The Houston Astros lost 7-3 to the Oakland A’s, leaving the Halos and ‘Stros with 6-3 records atop the AL West, Anthony Rendon was the hitting star for the Angels, going 2-for-4 with a home run and a single.

Toronto’s big run total was fueled in part by an Angel pitching staff which yielded 14 hits and nine walks.

The series will conclude Sunday morning in Toronto. On Monday the Angels will start a three-game series in Kansas City.

  • Lakers 126, Brooklyn 101: In a game between two teams playing without some of their top stars, the Los Angeles (33-20) Lakers defeated the Brooklyn Nets 126-101. Andre Drummond score 20 points and Dennis Schroder 19 in the win.
  • Kings 4, San Jose Sharks 2: The LA team scored three goals in the second period and outlasted the Sharks for the victory (16-18-6).
